"A very interesting exhibition, I only wish I was could be here longer to see and read more of the information. Really recommend to anyone who visits."

Guided tours for groups

NEW FOR GROUPS FOR 2012! Pre-booked tours/introductory talks by a Blue Badge Guide, focusing on either the Overlord Embroidery or the D-Day Landings. These special tours are only available to groups.

We can offer the following guided tours/talks:

1. Guided tour around the Overlord Embroidery Gallery (maximum number 25 people per guide). This will last approximately 30 minutes, with the guide available for an additional 30 minutes if required, to answer questions. For groups of 26-50 people, the guide can do two tours, one after the other, for the two different halves of the group (one hour in total).

2. Introductory talk about (a) the Overlord Embroidery, or (b) the story of D-Day, delivered inside the museum cinema (maximum number 100 people). The cinema can be used for this during the months of September - April; over the months May - August it cannot be used for talks except for groups arriving at 10-10.30am. If the cinema cannot be used, the guide can deliver an introductory talk on the group's coach before they enter the museum, and then be available for the remainder of the hour if required, to answer questions.

3. Tour around the D-Day Story displays (covering the story of D-Day): suitable only for groups of up to 10 people, due to the constrained spaces.

It may be possible to arrange tours/talks on other subjects relating to D-Day. Please contact us if you have a specific request.

Charges per hour: £30 for one guide, £25 for a second guide (for larger groups). Guides may only be booked in one-hour increments.

Tour fees must be paid at least 5 working days in advance of the date of the visit, and are non-refundable in the event of the visit being cancelled four or fewer working days in advance. At least five working days' notice will be needed for any amendments, such as to the arrival time (though we will try to accommodate amendments requested at shorter notice). Admission fees for the museum may be paid at the same time as booking the tour, or on the day of the visit if preferred. If the group's arrival at the museum is delayed, the guide will wait up to 45 minutes, and may need to reduce the length of the tour, with no refunds due to late arrivals.

Contact us: All groups must be booked in advance. For reservations and to enquire about booking a guided tour or talk, please email us or telephone 023 9282 7261.
