Once upon a time,
the planning of the greatest seaborne invasion ever took place.
Four years in the preparation, Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy on 6 June 1944, marked the beginning of the end of World War II and the eventual liberation of Europe.

THE DISCOVERING D-DAY PROJECT

INFORMAL LEARNING

We are running a series of ‘informal’ learning projects over 2 years, giving young people the opportunity to visit the museum and then work with an artist to create a piece of artwork inspired by their visit.  The young people will meet for a total of 12 hours but the number and length of the workshops will vary according to the needs of the group.  The workshops can take place at a time to suit the group, including the school holidays, weekends or evenings if required.

This project is free to youth groups and youth organizations based in Portsmouth.

To participate in the project, please contact Katherine Webber, ‘Discovering D-Day’ Project Officer, telephone 023 9282 7261 or email katherine.webber@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
