NORMANDY VETERANS IN PORTSMOUTH
65th anniversary of D-Day, May-June 2009
The anniversary of the D-Day Landings is commemorated every year in Portsmouth, due to the city's strong links to this historic event and the presence of the D-Day Museum. 6 June 2009 was to be the 65th anniversary of D-Day. It was clear that this might be the last occasion on which large numbers of Second World War veterans would come to Portsmouth to mark the anniversary.
The D-Day Museum therefore decided to work with local amateur photographers from Solent Camera Club to take portrait photographs of as many D-Day and Normandy veterans as possible. The results of this project can be seen by clicking on the link below.
