Four years in the preparation, Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion
of Normandy on 6 June 1944, marked the beginning of the end of World
War II and the eventual liberation of Europe.

Open daily except 24-26 December

October - March 10.00am - 5.00pm *
* Last entry to the D-Day Museum is 30 minutes before closing time.
We suggest you allow 1.5 to 2 hours in total for your visit to the museum.
Parking
Car and coach pay and display parking is available near the museum, including in the D-Day Museum car park, and on Clarence Esplanade and the Avenue de Caen.

Travelling by public transport
The D-Day Museum is roughly the same distance from both Portsmouth Harbour, and Portsmouth & Southsea train stations. There are taxi ranks at both stations, or else you can catch the No.700 bus from Portsmouth Harbour station, or the No.19 bus from near Portsmouth & Southsea station. Price Information
Children aged thirteen years and under are free when accompanied with a full paying adult.

Southwick House
At the time of D-Day, the Allied commanders met at Southwick House, just outside Portsmouth. Southwick House and its famous D-Day wall map can be visited by prior arrangement (appointments are necessary as it is on a military base). To visit Southwick House, please contact the Station Commander's PA on 023 9228 4601, or the curator of the Royal Military Police Museum which is adjacent to it (tel. 023 9228 4372). The D-Day Museum is not responsible for visits to Southwick House.
